Purpose of Position:
This job will create and manage Custom Culinary®’s internal FSQS auditing program and provide leadership to manage it. It will also directly manage the onboarding and maintenance of contract manufacturing and contract packaging locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and manage internal FSQS / BRC Auditing program for all Custom Culinary® sites. Schedule and lead audits and facilitate gap closure.
Train / develop selected employees in QS auditing skills and involve in annual auditing process.
Coordinate annual GF Global FSQS Audit completion and provide input to audit format / structure.
Complete supplier audits and visits as needed based on risk assessment.
Coordinate activities for contract manufacturing / packaging facilities including site approval, production start-up, trouble shooting, QS support and product release.
Drive continuous improvement within the Quality Systems and Operations organization.
This position requires extensive technical and operational expertise.
Complete understanding of BRC requirements
Auditing of sites to BRC GSFI Standard
Ability to manage projects / drive continuous improvement.
Ability to create and interpret data
Thorough understanding of plant production and operations practices, procedures and protocols.
Facilitate RC / CAPA problem solving sessions (Root Cause / Corrective and Preventive Action)
Lead specific projects related to QS Department.
Other activities as directed by the Sr. Plant Quality Manager or VP of Quality Systems & Regulatory.
Ensures all products manufactured and distributed meet food safety, quality and legal requirements for both source and destination locations.
Knowledge and Responsibilities:
Education: B.S. in Food Science or related field from a 4 year institution (M.S. a plus). BBA with extensive Food Manufacturing experience may be considered.
Experience: 7 years food manufacturing experience including 3 or more years managing a laboratory or QS team.
2 or more years of auditing experience (ex. HACCP, GFSI)
Certifications: HACCP, Seafood HACCP, FSMA PCQI HF, Acidified Foods (preferred)., Auditor (ex. CQA/CHA)
RC / CAPA knowledge and experience
Computer skills and experience with Microsoft products, including MS Visio, (ex. Office) are essential.
Ability to focus priorities and work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated success meeting established deadlines.
Must be detail oriented and proficient at reviewing and editing documentation.
