The Data Analytics Audit Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Data Analytics framework for Internal Audit. The Data Analytics Auditor Director will oversee as well as execute data analysis as part of various audit projects within Internal Audit, in order to expand the data analytics skills of the internal audit teams.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Oversees the design of value-added data analysis “business cases”, in order to find the appropriate use of data to bring value to all ongoing audit missions.
Oversees the development and build out of the Data Analytics function within Audit.
Reviews and signs off on all DA work to ensure it meets the expectations of the IIA.
Designs a DA framework for the branch network to minimize audit’s on site reviews.
Designs a DA framework to assist in key areas of focus such as DFAST, compliance, AML.
Expands the sampling approach of audit missions, focused in a full population analysis when possible.
Performs data discovery and analytics using Computer Assisted Auditing Tools (CAAT), Spotfire, ACL, Excel, or other internal data analytics tools (i.e. Osmose), as part of specific audit assignments led concurrently by the internal audit teams; advise heads of assignment and supervisors with ways to obtain and use data.
Proactively identifies key data sources and obtain access, feeds, and files necessary to perform data analytics.
Documents, diagrams, and presents complex/technical material to different audiences.
Contributes to the development of data analytical testing methods (procedures, guidelines, templates, etc.) to promote efficiency, add value, and expand the use of data analysis within Internal Audit.
Completes assigned projects timely, accurately and professionally.
Assists facilitating training, learning, and knowledge dissemination events for staff; contribute to data analytics related training and knowledge dissemination strategy for the department, assessing the feasibility of different delivery methods.
Maintains professional skill level through on-going education and training activities to support company needs. Additionally, provides guidance on data analytical training activities and develops goals to further the competency of the Internal Audit team.
Undertakes other duties consistent with the purpose of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of federal banking regulations, commercial real estate lending underwriting and asset management practices, procedures, and techniques
Knowledge of loan documentation, credit and financial statement analysis
Practical exposure to basic principles of auditing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word proficiently and acquire other computer skills as needed
Ability to work without close supervision
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Models, Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, related field or commensurate work experience.
Ten plus (10 ) years of related work experience in financial services, internal audit, data analytics, technology, compliance or risks/controls.
A minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in a Data Analytics role/function.
Five (5) years of banking related work experience preferred.
A minimum of eight (8) years of work experience with some of the following in order to query, transform, and/or present data: Excel, Access, VBA, SQL, Spotfire, ACL, preferred.
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience working with large complex data sets, drawing conclusions, and reporting findings preferred.
Current Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) preferred.
