Job DescriptionThe Senior Environmental Manager will be responsible for AWS internal environmental auditing and governance globally. The successful candidate will define and support development of standards, policies and procedures, participate in the review and approval of those documents, and create a detailed plan for both implementation and verification of the standards. The individual will complete contractual and environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, communicate best practices, and guide the implementation of Amazon environmental procedures. The Sr. Manager will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders. The Senior Environmental Manager must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong environmental regulatory knowledge, with global experience preferred, demonstrated success in program development and project management, and experience leading geographically disperse teams. Responsibilities: - Monitor and track government agency interactions globally, evaluate relationships, and identify trend areas for action or improvement - Create and implement a plan for internal audit execution, and partner with the environmental team to create a continuous feedback loop that will drive continuous improvement - Stay attuned to developing regulations and internal performance, to inform and modify the audit program as appropriate, on an ongoing basis - Adjust programs to reflect new risks as the business expands to new regions - Provide guidance and oversight to ensure conformance with AWS environmental and legal standards - Measure regional performance against published requirements. For all deficiencies, ensure plans are implemented to address areas of opportunity - Perform global trending of agency interactions and audit reports to identify common issues. Work with EHS partners to address deficiencies - Develop and coach the environmental team and other partners to achieve desired results - Develop internal environmental audit metrics to measure, monitor and improve performance - Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently - Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company - Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified and managed appropriately - Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions
Basic QualificationsA completed Bachelor\u2019s Degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering or related field of study 10 years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, audit leader, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager Experience with contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, air permit evaluations and applications, water discharge requirements, and waste management Broad knowledge of global environmental regulations and programs Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization Experience successfully implementing environmental systems Excellent organizational and project management skills Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, strong relationship builder, solid influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to coach at multiple levels Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems Position will be based on Seattle, WA
