Job Description Grade: Position Summary: It is the responsibility of the Internal Auditor to perform audits for compliance with relevant laws, regulations and related company policies and procedures while performing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Statement. Essential Functions: Performs audits to maintain compliance according to relevant laws, regulations and related company policies and procedures. Performs observations and walk-throughs, document examinations, performs other procedures sufficient to formulate and express an opinion to meet the objectives of the assignment. Assesses compliance with governmental and jurisdictional regulatory requirements, financial accounting and auditing standards, and company policies to ensure company assets are safeguarded. Develops an understanding of internal controls and their impact on related business processes. Summarizes any compliance or operational deficiencies and recommends corrective action. Manages multiple tasks concurrently in a changing environment Discusses findings and recommendations with and department Management Internal Audit leadership. Identifies areas in which operational efficiencies or cost savings could be achieved on assigned audits. Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area providing excellent guest service. Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies supervisor and\/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 21 years of age or older. Bachelor\u2019s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university. Master\u2019s degree in business administration, public administration, or related field preferred. One year corporate experience in auditing, accounting, business analysis, or program evaluation. Certification as a CIA, CPA, or CISA preferred. Knowledge of internal auditing, accounting and management principles and practices. Knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors. Knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices. Ability to negotiate issues and resolving problems. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point and Microsoft Project.\u00a0 Proficiency testing will be required. Excellent guest service and hospitality skills. Strong analytical and listening skills. Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Bilingual abilities preferred. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information. Ability to multi-task several activities and duties simultaneously. Ability to function and act independently. Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral. Ability to function in a fast paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines. Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
