Job Description: \u00a0 The primary responsibility of the Safety Specialist is to provide assistance to terminals working closely with management and trainers. Ensure all FMCSA regulations and Company policies are met or exceeded. This position includes the implementation, training, and auditing of FMCSA, OHSA and company policy. In this role, you will use your leadership skills and experience to develop collaborative working relationships with all FAS terminals, business partners, and contractors to instill and drive a culture of safety. Core Responsibilities & Duties: \u00a0 Job Duties:\u00a0 \u00a0 Providing safety and health assistance to terminal managers, supervisors, employees, and collateral duty safety representatives Performing safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements Providing specialty safety services and assessments addressing requirements that include ergonomics and industrial hygiene Delivering Safety\/DOT and OSHA training one-on-one, in groups, in classrooms, and via web-delivered media Providing outreach to employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization Investigating complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provide recommendations for abatement action; and verify completion of abatement action Support implementation and maintenance of terminal safety programs\u00a0 Promote \u201cSafety Culture\u201d by supporting safety initiatives Manage the monitoring of business activities for compliance with applicable rules and regulations Support initiatives to measure and reduce at-risk driving behaviors Oversee, manage, and improve CSA\/SMS BASIC scores Job requires up to 60% weekly travel Other duties as assigned Qualifications: \u00a0 5 years\u2019 experience in safety, transportation, logistics, or equivalent. Training and auditing experience a plus Class A CDL a plus but not required Knowledge through formal education, training and\/or experience on the principle and practices associated with fleet safety, OSHA and FMCSA compliance Proven ability to successfully implement programs and systems to comply with federal, state and local occupational and transportation safety regulations as well as company policies, strategies, initiatives and goals Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point Must be resourceful and a skilled problem solver Ability to coordinate and execute multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities Must be a strong leader able to lead teams and projects from concept to completion Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work outside of stated hours to include weekend, holidays, and evenings Successful candidate must complete and maintain Smith System Driver Trainer certification Successful candidate must complete OHSA 30 hour training Have a Driver\u2019s License and credit card for travel purposes and expenses (Travel expenses are 100% reimbursed per company policy)\u00a0 All applicants are subject to a criminal background investigation Skills: Ideal candidate will possess a \u201ccan do\u201d attitude with a \u201cwill do\u201d work ethic Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment Have strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of operations Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment General computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook, AS400 Excellent communication and problem solving skills\u00a0 We recognize people as our most valuable asset.
