REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Manager/Director; No Direct Reports
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinating and leading audits, risk assessments and due diligence efforts of external business partners (EBPs) which include managing general underwriters (MGUs), managing general agents (MGAs) and third-party administrators (TPAs).
Engaging and collaborating with internal NSI & Nationwide stakeholders (compliance, OCLO, finance, IT, program management, actuarial/risk, operations, etc.) to identify insurance and regulatory trends, market and strategic changes in order to better assess the risk environment related to NSI products.
Preparing executive summaries which capture any identified risk and control issues along with recommended corrective action plans and communicating to EBPs, NSI management and internal stakeholders.
Developing corrective action plans to improve performance, enhance controls, and/or bring the area into compliance with stated standards and procedures. Tracks and tests action plans to verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions taken by EBP.
Documenting the audit procedures performed and retaining work papers to adequately support conclusions.
Assessing alignment and identifying any gaps between prospective business partners/EBPs and NSI’s strategic plan, key initiatives and overall goals during due diligence process.
Providing internal consulting services to help enhance NSI’s control environment and identifying process improvement.
Analyzing data trends, patterns, anomalies, etc.; develops action plans to perform audits, process reviews, etc.
Acting as a mentor to new hires; may temporarily assume line management responsibility in the absence of the department manager.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
TYPICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance, management information systems or related field.
Designations: Professional certification, or working toward a professional designation such as CPA, CIA, PMP, etc. and membership in professional organizations such as IIA, ISACA are preferred, but not required.
Experience: Typically eight years of professional experience in audits or related controls environment. Work experience in an insurance or financial services operation. Experience in project management.
Knowledge: Knowledge and application of auditing principles and practices and of project management concept and techniques. General knowledge of information systems controls
Skills/Competencies:
Influence and the ability to lead a team of non-direct reports.
Ability to identify operations, financial and compliance control gaps and create a
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with business unit leadership, internal stakeholders and EBP leadership.
Comfort and ability to make appropriate recommendations to senior management.
Dealing with ambiguity and determining contingency solutions and alternatives.
Strong analytical ability to evaluate complex processes and systems for control points and any gaps.
Strong organization and planning skills to set priorities, and to plan work for a team.
Ability to formulate business questions/problems into analytical questions, and conduct analyses.
Competency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of ACL Data Analytics is not required but preferred.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. 20 – 25% travel will be required.
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)
