* The Role*
The IT/Project Assurance Audit Manager will serve as the Internal Audit lead in the execution of Information Technology audits and project assurance reviews. The manager maintains a high degree of IT and business contact through all phases of an audit, regularly serving as the principle contact for supporting system development audits and leading audit teams in performance of reviews of system enhancements, application implementations and SDLC processes, as well as Information Technology/Security audits. The manager is responsible for preparing and reporting audit results to audit management and Audit Committee. In addition, the manager will perform and work in accordance with department and professional audit standards to evaluate the IT system of internal controls and prepare risk assessment matrices, audit programs and audit planning memorandums and reports. The manager will work as a strategic partner to senior internal audit management in identifying and mitigating control risks and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations across the firm for particular business units and/or corporate functions.
Executes and leads audit fieldwork on assigned engagements with limited supervision in support of the annual audit plan.
Manages engagement related efforts and assignments of staff and co-source resources with emphasis on quality and cost.
Carries out and leads audit engagements including risk assessments, audit planning, audit testing, control evaluations, audit communications and follow up and verification of issue closure.
Partners with the Audit’s Senior Leadership in the early identification of emerging control issues and reporting them in a timely manner to the Senior Leadership Team and business stakeholders.
Finalizes audit findings and using judgment to opine on the control environment.
Ensures consistent methodologies, policies, and alignment of resources to foster a unified audit team atmosphere.
Collaborates with management and promotes Internal Audit’s reputation as a value-added business partner while maintaining independence.
Collaborates with audit management on tactical implementation of key initiatives; tracking & monitoring progress towards achieving goals & objectives, analyzing data, ensuring follow-through on the part of resources & sustaining momentum to drive initiative.
Possesses in-depth subject matter knowledge for key areas of responsibility.
Sets standards and ensures that his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility are meeting all objectives pertaining to resources, quality, compliance, regulations, productivity, budget and project management.
Monitors key risk indicators, significant change activities and escalation of emerging issues to senior management in a timely fashion.
Prepares and communicates technical documents, presentations, and communications (memos, fact sheets, collateral materials) pertaining to risk and financial implications to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
Drives use and adoption of automated software tools and stays abreast of current technology in the department and in the business areas.
Provides subject matter expertise, technical principles, expert judgment, and cross-functional expertise to independently address a broad range of complex problems.
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in written form, audit results and issues. Partners with colleagues and lines of businesses to facilitate achievement of the overall desired audit coverage.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, regulations and controls by examining new and existing legislation and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation; recommending opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure.
Remains abreast of industry and professional trends and make recommendations to senior leaders and the CAE regarding industry best practices, including recommendations on various topics and monitoring to assure implementation.
Identifies process inefficiencies and cost reductions for area(s) of responsibility; develops and implements mitigation plans.
Identifies gaps in corporate practices, policies and procedures and leads efforts to remediate gaps.
Collaborates effectively, develops and manages effective relationships with key stakeholders including various levels of management throughout the enterprise and external auditors and clients to foster and promote Internal Audit’s reputation as a value-added business partner.
Partners with legal, compliance, risk management and other control groups establishing strong work relationships, while maintaining independence.
Partners with colleagues in other locations and across lines of businesses to facilitate achievement of the overall desired audit coverage.
* Education & Experience*
Bachelor’s in degree Accounting, Finance, Information Technology or other relevant field required or 4 years comparable work experience.
PMP and/or CISA designations required.
Advanced knowledge of internal controls, business/information technology risk and audit techniques.
Advanced knowledge of regulatory environment for financial services industry.
5 years of experience preferably in financial services IT audit department, or equivalent experience in top tier firm or 10 years of progressively increasing work experience in internal audit.
2 years’ experience leading end-to-end engagements within information technology or project management.
Demonstrated ability to generate and evaluate audit findings and internal control recommendations, as well as broader governance issues.
