Position Title: Systems Administrator
Location: 203 West Losey St. Bldg 1700, Scott AFB, IL 62225
Description: Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.
Writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems and automate systems administration tasks.
Manages and supports secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
Performs or assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems; corrects identified problems.
Performs systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.
Provides monitoring and primary response and intervention for information technology related security incidents and violations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or related field
Master’s Degree requires one less year of experience; no degree requires up to three years of additional experience
Security or an equivalent, CE Certification
Administers, installs, maintains, monitors, and manages computer server hardware and software in a multi-platform environment, with specific focus / duties in SUN Solaris 10 environment. Creates / maintains user accounts / active directory, IIS web sites, hardware and software, and trouble-shoots / resolves computer systems, applications, and network communications problems in SUN Solaris. Installs operating systems and application patches, performs application and operating system DoD security reviews. Additional duties, based on candidate experience and knowledge, would include support of Microsoft Windows Server 2008.
Security and Microsoft Certification (MCSE) or other Computing Environment (CE) certification per DoD 8570.
