Essentially the types of accountants that are out there will break down into three different fields each with their own little sets of nuances and perks to pull people in. No matter what type of accountant you are you will be in the business of helping in one way or another. Whether it is in the personal, business, or government sector, you will be providing some sort of service for someone.

In the world of business accounting, you will need to choose if you are going to be an accountant or if you will be playing the role of auditor for the company. In either capacity, you will be handling a good amount of the financial proceedings of the company. Here you will be working for the business in an attempt to balance the books and trying to be able to handle all of the financial aspects of the company that you are working for. Here you will be in charge of the company's records as well as handling things like allowances as well as all of the accounting problems one would face while they are dealing with tax seasons and end of the month finances. You would need to look at all of the accounts of the company. Essentially any and all accounting responsibilities would fall into your lap and hence you would be held liable for determining the assets and liabilities of the company. Here you will need to keep up with continuing education so as to allow you to be able to meet all of your companies and to be able to keep the books up to date for the upcoming year.

The second type of accounting is one where you will be a personal accountant. Here you will work for individuals as opposed to a business and will put in more hours in the month of April than in any other time of the year. The reason for this is that you will primarily be doing the job of helping people to determine their taxes. It will be your job to look at all of the various accounts of people and families to help them to learn what type of refund that they would receive or if they will need to find the money to pay back the government. You will again need to look at the tax laws as well as any other changes that will come into play when they are looking to determine how much you will get or owe. This type of accountant can also work to fill the role of a financial advisor to an individual to aid them in knowing where it is that they should put their money and what would allow them reap the highest rewards. Here they would allow you to work for them year round and the handling of all of the personal finances so as to allow them to make the most out of your money and to provide you with security in the future.

The last type of position one would be looking for with a degree in accounting would be that of working with the government. Here you would most likely be seeking a position with the IRS and there you would be in the business of auditing and adjusting the returns that are filed by the taxpayers of the country. You would also be responsible for performing evaluations on the companies that are recording and sending money to the government in the form of taxes. Sometimes you would be known as the people that the world would love to hate. Here you are going to fill an un-liked role, but you will be working for the government and you will be serving your country at the same time. In this position as it is with any other position of accounting you will need to look at all of your options and you will need to continue to keep up on all of the different law changes and new tax laws that will go into effect.
